Mission Trip to Mississippi (5)
January 17
It was a little warmer today but we still had on our layers and coats. But we did find a new way to keep warm - we started a fire in the fireplace! It was wonderful. We ate our lunch sitting around on buckets, keeping warm.

The following pictures show the same work group. Work is progressing and it is good to see what we have accomplished. At the bottom are some pictures of Camp Victor.

Here is the wonderful fire that kept us warm through out the day. We had lots of scrap lumber and fallen branches to keep it going.

Here are the electricians that keep showing up day after day. They have completely rewired the house and tomorrow they will switch from the old box to the new box.

Before drywall could be installed, it was discovered that this new wall had not been firmly connected to the outside wall. It moved when touched. So a few more nails were put in and we were in business to start on the drywall.

Finishing up the windows is putting the trim on the outside of the house. What a tedious and exacting job that is. Tomorrow we will start working on the inside trim as drywall is hung.

Today started the drywalling. Luckily we had a lift to hold the pieces in place while screws were inserted.

Once the ceiling drywall is hung then we got started on the walls. We have lots of studs to cover - this may take the rest of the week!

A new job that was done today was to replace a window pane in this door. Can you pick out the new pane? She did a great job on it!

On a bulletin board at Camp Victor is a map of the United States and some other countries with multi-colored pins marking where people have come from to help.

This is the distribution center for food at Camp Victor. They are open several days every week for people to come by and get food.

This is also part of the distribution center at Camp Victor but this is the side for the workers. It is full of tools for us to check out as needed or to use there.
