Mission Trip to Mississippi (2)

Pastor Jay will again be sharing his experience with us as he and 26 others travel to Ocean Springs, Mississippi to share their talents in feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, and rebuilding homes.

Today the 26 volunteers (the other one will be flying in from Phoenix, Arizona) from Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Catholic Information Center, and six other congregations left for Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Meeting at Bethlehem Lutheran Church they loaded up the vans, pickups, cars, and even a motor home with supplies, quilts, sleeping bags, and suitcases. They got on the road around 1:30 and will be driving through the night to arrive in Ocean Springs sometime tomorrow morning (if all goes well).

For the second time in three months, they will bring supplies needed, help in clean-up and re-building, they will cook and serve, they will clean, and, of greatest importance, they will share their lives with people who are in desperate need of compassion, understanding, and a caring presence. Their ministry is a response to Christ's commandment to love God and one's neighbor and should stand as a model for all of us!
