Mission Trip to Mississippi
November 5
Bethlehem Katrina Disaster Team
"Where the women are strong, the men are good looking, and the work is above average."

This house shows a nice shot of reality: the unsalvageable mess strewn out in the front lawn, a house under de-construction, and a makeshift shelter nearby. The owners of the house are a young couple with two sons ages two and three. The whole family currently lives in a FEMA provided trailer parked next to their house. Although one of the crews helped this family tremendously with tearing out their house today, who knows how long until their house will be rebuilt.

It has been a life-changing five days of working for the folks in Mississippi. All of the volunteers have felt what it means to make a difference literally with their bare hands. We were told the first day of our orientation that we would leave with a feeling that we received more than we gave. This is most certainly true. We will leave changed, with new perspectives, priorities, and many stories to tell our family and friends.
We plan on returning in January or February 2006. Will you be with us to serve others in Christ's name? We hope so. You can ask anyone who went on the trip to see what it was like and what it meant to them and what it meant to the people of Mississippi.
Please email Pastor Schrimpf with your questions and comments: schrimpf@iserv.net
