Mission Trip to Mississippi

November 4

"We had an awesome day in a MASH clinic in a tent. Our shelves went bare from the demand for medicines. Two guys from Huntsville, Alabama called and asked us what we needed and purchased the medicines (Sudafed, cough syrup) from Costco to bring to us and almost weren't allowed out of the store with our shipment. They thought these guys were buying the medicine to manufacture methamphetamines."

"It's been a wonderful, eye-opening trip coming to Mississippi to assist the hurricane victims. Thus far our work team has worked cleaning up three houses. Physically I am exhausted. Mentally I am invigorated. Socially I have met many new friends from Michigan and Mississippi. Spiritually, I feel God has blessed me by calling me on the Mississippi adventure."

"The resilience of the people is astounding."
--John Lepisto

"Alas, I walked up to a 48 hour project which was now completely gutted. A look on the face of a 40-something Thai women who owned the house we worked on gave me a smile I have never seen, next to her home, a smell I have never breathed. As I contemplate her loss, I felt a sigh of relief because she could finally begin to contemplate where she could go from here. I felt myself feeling the same after seeing all this destruction, where should I go from here? I will just continue to live, love, and learn."
