250 Commerce SW - our new church home

The Walk - October 7, 2007

What a wonderful day to walk from our old location to our new home at 250 Commerce SW. We met in the parking lot at 330 Crescent SE amidst our processional crosses, the banners, and streamers. Pastor Jay and Jed led us in a short service to commemorate the event and with music playing, we walked down the hill to our new home. Once we arrived at the church the bells set up, the pastors led everyone in service, and then we headed into the sanctuary for our first worship service.

The banners that led the way on our walk. The one on the left is a new banner that is designed to match the new BLC sign that will hang outside the building. The one of the right is BLC's Organization Banner that had been hanging in the church sanctuary at 330 Crescent.

The people gathered in the church parking lot during the short service before the walk.

The pastors, the processional crosses (the old one from 330 Crescent - on the right, and the new one for 250 Commerce - on the left), and the banners during the outdoor service.

Here we are, heading out of the church parking lot to walk down to 250 Commerce. Song sheets were provided for the songs that were sung along the way.

Singing and walking, walking and singing. Along the sidewalks we went. Thanks to Carmen and Andrew for keeping the beat for us and making music when the singing faltered.

Here we are crossing Fulton Street onto Commerce. We are almost there! The congregation did a great job of not getting too spread out though we did have to wait for at least 2 lights at each corner.

We even had a car following us around, waving their streamers out the window!

The altar area. As you can tell the final touches have not been done. The carpeting and wall paper will be finished this week.

And the worship service. Also missing are the new chairs, the hanging lights, the wood on the walls, and the carpeting. Each week we get a little closer to the final product. But whether the sanctuary was finished or not, the worship was wonderful and we were together in our new home.
